Hey everyone!
I’ve been on a bit of a journey lately, trying to make my home not just a place of comfort, but also a testament to sustainable living. One of the biggest changes I’ve made is switching to low-sheen eco-paints for my walls. It all started when I decided to repaint my living room and stumbled upon Earthborn Paints. Their Claypaint range caught my eye because it’s breathable, making it perfect for older homes like mine that need to let moisture escape to prevent damp.
I’ve tried a few eco-friendly paints before, like Auro and Ecos, but the finish and durability of Earthborn’s low-sheen paints really stood out. Applying it was a breeze, and it adhered beautifully to my plaster walls, which can be tricky with some paints. Plus, knowing it’s free from VOCs and made with natural ingredients gives me peace of mind about the environmental impact.
What about you all? Have you tried any low-sheen eco-paints in your homes? How do they hold up in high-traffic areas? I’m especially curious about experiences with different wall materials and how these paints perform over time. Let’s share our stories and tips for a greener home!

Great topic, @GreenThumbJenny! I’ve also been exploring eco-friendly paint options for my home. I tried Earthborn Paints in my bedroom and was impressed by the coverage and the low-sheen finish. It’s been a few months, and the walls still look fresh. I’m curious, though, how does it handle scuffs and marks? Have you had to do any touch-ups?

@EcoWarriorDave, I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying Earthborn Paints too! Regarding scuffs and marks, I’ve found it quite resilient. I’ve only had to do a couple of minor touch-ups in high-traffic areas, and the paint blended seamlessly. It’s definitely one of the more durable eco-paints I’ve used.

I’ve been using Auro paints for a while now, and while I love their eco-credentials, I find the finish a bit too matte for my taste. Has anyone compared Auro to Earthborn Paints in terms of sheen and application? I’m considering making the switch for my next project.

@NatureLover99, I’ve used both brands extensively. Earthborn Paints definitely offers a slightly higher sheen compared to Auro, which I prefer for living spaces. Application-wise, both are great, but I find Earthborn a bit easier to work with, especially on larger walls. The coverage is excellent, and it dries to a beautiful, even finish.

Has anyone tried Ecos paints? I’m looking for something that’s not only eco-friendly but also has a wide range of colors. I’ve heard mixed reviews about their durability, though. Any insights would be appreciated!
@SustainaBill, I’ve used Ecos in the past. Their color range is indeed impressive, and the paints are very eco-friendly. However, I did find that in high-traffic areas, the finish didn’t hold up as well as I’d hoped. It might be worth considering for less-used spaces or if you’re okay with doing touch-ups more frequently.

For those interested in the technical side, it’s worth noting that Earthborn Paints’ Claypaint is not only VOC-free but also contains natural clay and chalk, which contribute to its breathability and durability. This makes it an excellent choice for older buildings or any space where moisture control is a concern. Plus, the low-sheen finish helps to hide imperfections on walls, which is a bonus for those of us with less-than-perfect plasterwork!

I’ve used both Auro and Earthborn Paints, and I have to say, the difference in sheen is noticeable. Earthborn offers a slightly more lustrous finish without going overboard. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something that’s not too matte but still eco-friendly. Application-wise, I found Earthborn to be smoother and it covered better in fewer coats.

I’m all about Auro for its eco-credentials too, but I get what you mean about the finish. I tried Earthborn in my hallway, which gets a lot of foot traffic, and it’s holding up surprisingly well. The sheen is just right, not too shiny but definitely not as flat as Auro. It’s been a few months, and I haven’t noticed any wear or fading.

Interesting to hear about Earthborn. I’ve been loyal to Auro for years because of their environmental stance, but I’m always open to trying something new, especially if it means a better finish. How does Earthborn compare in terms of color options? I love how Auro has such a wide range.

I switched to Earthborn after a friend recommended it, and I haven’t looked back. The sheen is exactly what I was looking for – not too matte, not too glossy. It’s been great on my plaster walls, and the color hasn’t faded at all, even in the sunny spots. Plus, their color range is pretty extensive, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding what you need.

I’ve been debating between Auro and Earthborn for my kitchen. It’s a high-traffic area with a lot of moisture, so I need something durable. Hearing that Earthborn has a better sheen and holds up well is convincing me to give it a try. Does anyone know how it performs in humid conditions?

I’ve used Ecos paints in my kitchen and bathroom. The color range is impressive, and they do a decent job of covering stains. However, I noticed that in high-traffic areas, the paint tends to wear off quicker than I expected. Maybe it’s just the way I applied it, but something to keep in mind if you’re considering it for similar spaces.
I tried Ecos for my living room and was really happy with the color selection. They have some unique shades that you don’t find everywhere. Durability-wise, it’s been holding up well, but I don’t have kids or pets, so my walls don’t get much abuse. If your home is busier, you might want to look into more durable options.

I’m all for eco-friendly paints, but I found Ecos to be a bit tricky to work with. It took more coats than I anticipated to get a solid finish. The colors are beautiful, though. If you’re patient and don’t mind the extra work, it could be worth it for the environmental benefits.

I used Ecos in my bedroom and loved the matte finish it gave. It feels very modern and clean. As for durability, it’s been a few months, and I haven’t noticed any issues. But again, bedrooms are low-traffic areas, so I can’t speak for more active parts of the house.
I’ve heard mixed things about Ecos too. A friend used it in her hallway and said it started to chip after a year. She has a dog, though, so that might have contributed. I’m considering trying it for a feature wall in my dining room to see how it goes. The color options are too good to pass up.

I went with Ecos for my home office and have been really pleased. The paint dried quickly, and the smell was minimal, which was a big plus for me. It’s been about six months, and the walls still look great. I think it really depends on the specific conditions of your space and how much wear and tear it gets.

I’ve been using Earthborn’s Claypaint in my Victorian home for a couple of years now, and I’m really impressed with how it’s held up. The breathability factor is a game-changer for preventing damp, especially in the older parts of the house. Plus, the low-sheen finish does wonders for hiding those inevitable wall imperfections. It’s reassuring to know I’m not just making my home look good, but I’m also doing my bit for the planet.
