Why I Prefer Low-Sheen Eco-Paints for My Home: A Personal Journey

Interesting read! I’ve been on the fence about switching to eco-paints, mainly because I’m worried about the durability in high-traffic areas like hallways and kitchens. Has anyone had experience with how these paints stand up to frequent cleaning or scuff marks? I’d love to hear some real-life experiences before making the switch.

I tried Auro paints in my bathroom, thinking it would be the perfect test for moisture resistance. Honestly, it’s been a mixed bag. While it’s great for the environment, I’ve noticed it doesn’t hold up as well against mold compared to traditional paints. Maybe I need to give Earthborn a shot next time. Anyone else had better luck with eco-paints in wet areas?

I’m all for eco-friendly options, but I have to ask, how do these paints compare price-wise? I’m renovating on a budget and while I’d love to go green, I can’t justify spending a fortune. If anyone has tips on where to find deals or if the durability makes it worth the investment in the long run, I’d appreciate it.

Just a heads-up for anyone considering eco-paints, the application process can be a bit different from what you’re used to. I found that Earthborn’s Claypaint required a bit more elbow grease to get an even coat, but the end result was worth it. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re doing it yourself. Also, the color range is fantastic, really vibrant and deep.

This discussion has got me thinking about the broader impact of our choices. Beyond paint, what other eco-friendly home improvements have you all made? I’m looking for more ways to reduce my carbon footprint and would love to hear what’s worked (or hasn’t) for others. Maybe we can share some innovative ideas or products that have made a difference in our homes.
