Hey everyone!
I’ve recently taken on the challenge of renovating my bathroom to make it more eco-friendly, and I’m on the hunt for the best air-purifying paints that can withstand high-humidity areas. I’ve been experimenting with natural paints for a while now, and I’m really keen on finding something that not only looks good but also contributes to a healthier indoor environment.
So far, I’ve tried EcoPaints’ line of natural paints, which I found to be quite impressive in terms of odor and VOC levels. However, I’m curious if there are any other brands out there that specialize in air-purifying properties, especially for areas prone to moisture. I’ve heard about AirPure paints, which claim to reduce indoor pollutants, but I haven’t had the chance to test them in a high-humidity setting yet.
I’m particularly interested in paints that are compatible with plaster and can resist mold and mildew growth. Environmental considerations are also a top priority for me, so I’m looking for products with sustainable packaging and natural ingredients.
What are your experiences with air-purifying paints in humid areas? Have you found any brands that stand out in terms of durability and eco-friendliness? I’d love to hear your recommendations and any tips you might have for applying these paints in challenging environments. Let’s share our knowledge and help each other create healthier, more sustainable homes!

Hey @EcoPainter88!
I’ve been down the same path with my bathroom renovation and found BioShield paints to be a game-changer. They’re specifically designed for high-humidity areas and have excellent air-purifying properties. What’s more, their Clay Paint is perfect for plaster surfaces and naturally resists mold and mildew. Plus, their commitment to sustainability is top-notch, with eco-friendly packaging and natural ingredients. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ve had a great experience with AirPure paints in my kitchen, which also faces high humidity. They lived up to their claims of reducing indoor pollutants, and the finish was durable and easy to clean. However, I haven’t tested them on plaster, so I can’t vouch for that. Their eco-credentials are solid, though, with low VOCs and sustainable practices.

@GreenThumb99 Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard of BioShield but haven’t tried their Clay Paint yet. How was the application process? Did you need any special primers or treatments for the plaster?

@EcoPainter88 The application was surprisingly straightforward! No special primers needed for plaster, which was a relief. The paint has a nice consistency and covers well. Just make sure the surface is clean and dry before you start. I did two coats for full coverage and it turned out beautifully. Let me know if you try it!

Has anyone tried EcoPaints in a bathroom setting? I’m curious about their performance in high humidity. I’ve used them in living spaces and loved the low odor and eco-friendly aspect, but bathrooms are a whole different ball game.

@NatureLover23 I’ve used EcoPaints in my bathroom and was quite pleased. They held up well against humidity and maintained their color beautifully. However, I’m still exploring options with stronger air-purifying properties, hence this thread. But for eco-friendliness and low VOCs, they’re a solid choice.

Just a quick tip for everyone considering natural paints for high-humidity areas: ventilation is key! No matter how good the paint is, ensuring proper airflow will significantly help in preventing mold and maintaining the paint’s integrity.

@SunnyDaysAhead Absolutely agree! I’ve installed a new ventilation system as part of the renovation. It’s crucial for maintaining a healthy indoor environment, especially with natural paints. Thanks for highlighting that!

I’ve been using AirPure paints in my kitchen, which also gets pretty humid, and I’m really impressed with how well it’s held up. Not only does it keep the air feeling fresher, but it’s also been resistant to mold, which was a big issue for me before. The application was a breeze, and it dried faster than I expected. Definitely a solid choice for anyone looking to tackle high-humidity areas with an eco-friendly solution.

I’ve actually used EcoPaints in my bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it held up. The humidity hasn’t been an issue, and it’s been a few months now with no signs of mold or peeling. The low odor was a big plus for me too, especially in a small space like a bathroom. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re considering it.

I haven’t tried EcoPaints in the bathroom, but I’ve used AirPure in a kitchen with high humidity, and it’s been fantastic. It’s supposed to reduce indoor pollutants, and while I can’t measure that, I can say it’s held up really well against moisture. The finish is nice, and it’s easy to clean, which is a bonus in any wet area. Might be worth looking into for your bathroom project.
I’m all for eco-friendly options, but I’ve had mixed results with natural paints in high-humidity areas. I tried a different brand in my bathroom, and while it was great for the environment, it didn’t stand up to the moisture as well as I’d hoped. Ended up with some mold spots after a while. I’m curious about EcoPaints though, especially if they can handle the humidity better. Might have to give them a shot in my next project.
I totally agree with the ventilation tip! I’ve used AirPure paints in my bathroom, and while they do a great job at reducing odors, I noticed that without proper airflow, the walls took longer to dry, which isn’t ideal in a humid environment. So, definitely keep those windows open or use a dehumidifier if you can. Also, I found that applying a mold-resistant primer before the paint made a huge difference in durability.

Hey, just wanted to chime in about EcoPaints. I’ve used them in my kitchen, which gets pretty steamy, and they’ve held up surprisingly well. But like the first comment said, ventilation is crucial. I installed a small exhaust fan, and it’s made all the difference. Also, I’m curious if anyone has tried mixing their own natural paints? I’ve been thinking about experimenting with lime and natural pigments for a more DIY approach.
