Personal story: Switching to natural paint made my home more comfortable through the seasons

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a bit about my journey towards a more eco-friendly home, specifically focusing on my switch to natural paints. Last year, I decided it was time to repaint my living room and bedroom. I had been hearing a lot about natural paints and their benefits, not just for the environment but for indoor air quality too. So, I took the plunge and chose Earthborn Paints for their clay-based formula. The difference was night and day, especially with how my home felt through the changing seasons.

Before this, I had tried a couple of eco-friendly brands, but they either didn’t cover well or the colors faded too quickly. Earthborn, however, was a game-changer. The application was smooth, and the colors stayed vibrant. What really stood out to me was how the paint helped regulate humidity in my home, making it feel more comfortable year-round. I used it on both plaster walls and wood surfaces, and it adhered beautifully without any issues.

I’m curious, has anyone else made the switch to natural paints? What brands have you tried, and how did they perform in different seasons? Also, for those who haven’t tried them yet, what’s holding you back? Let’s discuss our experiences and tips for making our homes more sustainable and comfortable!

Great to hear about your positive experience with Earthborn Paints, @EcoPainter88! I’ve been considering making the switch to natural paints for a while now, especially after reading about their benefits for indoor air quality. Your mention of how it helped regulate humidity in your home is particularly intriguing. Did you notice any difference in how the paint performed between the plaster walls and wood surfaces? Also, how did you find the color selection? I’m a bit worried about limiting my options.

I made the switch to Biofa Paints last spring, and I couldn’t be happier. Like you, I was initially concerned about the color fading, but it’s held up beautifully through the seasons. The application was a bit different from conventional paints, but once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing. I especially love the matte finish it gives, which really complements my home’s aesthetic. For anyone on the fence, I’d say give it a try!

@GreenThumb99, thanks for your questions! The performance on plaster walls versus wood was pretty consistent, which was a relief. As for the color selection, Earthborn Paints actually offers a wide range of shades. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and found it easy to match my existing decor. If you’re worried about limiting your options, I’d recommend getting some samples first to see how they look in your space.

Has anyone tried mixing natural paints from different brands to achieve a custom color? I’m curious about the compatibility and whether it affects the eco-friendly properties.

@NatureLover23, I’ve experimented with mixing Auro Paints and Earthborn Paints for a custom shade in my kitchen. It worked out well, but I made sure to test the mixture on a small area first to check for any adverse reactions. The key is to ensure both paints have similar bases (e.g., clay-based) to maintain the eco-friendly properties. Always do a patch test!

I’m still on the fence about switching to natural paints. The main thing holding me back is the cost. They seem to be significantly more expensive than conventional paints. For those who’ve made the switch, do you think the benefits outweigh the higher price tag?

@FreshStart45, that’s a valid concern. Initially, I was also hesitant because of the price. However, considering the durability, the improved indoor air quality, and the comfort through different seasons, I believe it’s worth the investment. Plus, you’re supporting more sustainable practices, which is priceless. Maybe start with one room and see how you feel about it?
