Eco-friendly painting: How to choose the right air-purifying paint for your sustainable home project

Hey everyone! :herb: I’ve been knee-deep in renovating my little cottage, aiming to make every choice as sustainable as possible. This week, I’m tackling the walls and I’m on the hunt for the perfect air-purifying paint. I’ve heard wonders about how certain natural paints can actually improve indoor air quality, which is a huge plus for me and my family.

I’ve previously used Eco Paints for a smaller project, and while I loved their commitment to sustainability, I’m curious about other brands that might offer stronger air-purifying qualities. Specifically, I’m looking at AirPure Paint by Earthborn. They claim their paint not only has zero VOCs but also actively absorbs harmful toxins from the air. Has anyone tried this brand? How did it hold up on different surfaces? I’m planning to use it on both plaster walls and some wooden panels, so any tips on application would be super helpful.

Also, I’m all ears for any other eco-friendly paint recommendations that have worked wonders in your homes. What’s your go-to brand for a sustainable, toxin-free living space? Let’s share our experiences and help each other make our homes a little greener! :seedling:

Hey @GreenThumbJenny, I’ve been on a similar journey to make my home more eco-friendly and came across AirPure Paint by Earthborn during my research. I used it in my living room, which has both plaster walls and wooden panels, and I must say, the application was smooth. The paint adhered well to both surfaces, and the finish was even and matte, just as I wanted. It’s been a few months, and I haven’t noticed any fading or peeling. Plus, the air in the room feels fresher, which is a big win for me!

I haven’t tried AirPure Paint yet, but I’m a big fan of BioShield paints. They’re made from natural ingredients like clay, lime, and plant dyes. I used their Clay Paint in my bedroom, and it’s amazing how it regulates humidity. Plus, the texture is unique and adds a rustic charm to the room. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into natural finishes!

@SkyWalker99 That’s great to hear! Did you need to do any special prep work on the wooden panels before applying the AirPure Paint? I’m a bit concerned about how it might adhere to older wood.

@GreenThumbJenny I lightly sanded the wooden panels to ensure the surface was smooth and free of any old paint flakes. Then, I wiped them down with a damp cloth to remove dust. The AirPure Paint adhered beautifully after that. Just make sure the wood is completely dry before you start painting!

I’m all about Auro paints. They’re plant-based, biodegradable, and have a wide range of natural colors. I used their No. 320 in my kitchen, and it’s held up really well against moisture and stains. Plus, the application was a breeze. Their commitment to sustainability is impressive, and the paint smells like citrus, not chemicals!

I’ve been using AirPure Paint by Earthborn in my home office for about six months now, and I’m really impressed. The application was a breeze, and it covered my plaster walls beautifully. I was a bit skeptical about the air-purifying claims at first, but I have to admit, the room does feel different. It’s hard to describe, but the air seems cleaner. I went with Eco Paints for my bedroom makeover, and while I love their eco-friendly approach, I did notice a slight odor that took a few days to dissipate. It wasn’t unpleasant, just noticeable. The coverage was great, and the color has held up well over time. I’m curious about AirPure Paint though, especially the air-purifying aspect. Might have to test it out in my next project.

I tried AirPure Paint in my kitchen, which has a mix of plaster and wooden surfaces. The application was smooth, and it adhered well to both materials. I was particularly interested in the toxin-absorbing feature, and while I can’t scientifically measure the air quality, the kitchen does feel fresher. It’s been a few months, and the paint still looks as good as new. No complaints here!

I haven’t tried AirPure Paint either, but I’m curious about its air-purifying claims. On another note, I recently discovered Lullaby Paints for my nursery project. They’re zero VOC and have this certification that ensures they’re safe for kids. The colors are vibrant, and the application was smooth. Might be something to look into if you’re doing a family-friendly space.

I’ve been using AirPure Paint by Earthborn for a while now, and I must say, it’s pretty impressive. The zero VOCs claim is legit, and I’ve noticed a difference in air quality, especially in my kid’s room. Application was smooth on both plaster and wood, but I’d recommend a primer for the wooden panels to ensure even coverage. Definitely a thumbs up from me!

I’ve been experimenting with Milk Paint for some furniture pieces, and it’s been a fun, eco-friendly alternative. It’s made from natural ingredients like milk protein and lime, and you can mix your own colors. It gives a unique, vintage look that’s hard to achieve with regular paint. Not sure about walls, but for furniture, it’s definitely worth a try.
