Can anyone recommend a good brand for VOC-free paint that uses natural pigments?

Hey everyone! :herb: I’ve been diving deep into the world of eco-friendly renovations lately, and I’m on the hunt for the perfect VOC-free paint that uses natural pigments. I recently repainted my living room with a brand I found at my local eco-store, but I’m not entirely satisfied with the color depth. It’s a bit too muted for my taste. Has anyone else experienced this with natural paints?

I’ve tried Earthborn Paints before, and while I love their commitment to being eco-friendly and their range of colors, I’m curious if there are other brands out there that might offer a bit more vibrancy without compromising on the natural aspect. I’m particularly interested in paints that are compatible with plaster walls, as that’s what I’m working with.

Also, I’m all ears for any tips on application techniques that might help enhance the color payoff. I’ve heard that using a natural primer can make a big difference, but I haven’t experimented much with that yet.

So, what are your go-to brands for VOC-free, natural pigment paints? Have you found any that really stand out in terms of color vibrancy and ease of application? Let’s share our experiences and help each other make our homes both beautiful and sustainable! :art:

Hey @EcoPainter89, I’ve been on a similar journey and found Auro Paints to be a game-changer for me. Their natural pigments really pop, especially on plaster walls. I used their No. 320 - Deep Ocean in my study, and the depth of color is incredible. Plus, their application guide was super helpful for getting an even finish. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ve had a great experience with BioShield Paints. Their Claypaint range offers vibrant colors and is super eco-friendly. I used it in my kitchen, and it’s held up really well against moisture. The application was a breeze, and the color payoff was exactly what I was hoping for. Might be worth a look!

@GreenThumb22 Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve heard of Auro Paints but haven’t tried them yet. How did you find the drying time compared to other natural paints? I’m a bit impatient when it comes to waiting for paint to dry, haha.

@SunnyDays47 I second BioShield! Their Milk Paint is also fantastic for a more matte finish. It’s a bit trickier to apply, but the end result is so worth it. Did you use any special techniques for the Claypaint?

@EcoPainter89 The drying time was pretty standard, about 4-6 hours between coats. But the key is in the prep work! Make sure your plaster walls are properly primed with a natural primer. It not only helps with the drying time but also enhances the color. I used Auro’s Natural Primer, and it made a noticeable difference.

@MountainView99 For the Claypaint, I found that using a high-quality natural bristle brush helped a lot. It gave me more control and a smoother finish. Also, applying thin coats and letting each dry thoroughly before the next made a big difference. Patience is key!

@LeafLover56 I’ve used Eco Paints’ Natural Paint in my bathroom for a slight sheen, and it’s held up beautifully against humidity. The application was straightforward, and the color stayed true. I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re after a bit of shine without compromising on the eco aspect.

I’ve been using Biofa Paints for a while now, and I must say, their color range is pretty impressive for being natural and VOC-free. I painted my kitchen with their Sunflower Yellow, and it’s just vibrant enough without being overwhelming. They also have a great guide for plaster walls, which was super helpful for me.

I tried Ecos Paints last year for my bedroom, and I was really happy with the outcome. They have this Rich Red that’s just stunning. It took a couple of coats to get the depth I wanted, but it was worth it. Their customer service is also top-notch if you have any questions about application.

I’m all about Livos Paints. Their Indigo Blue transformed my living room. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and the depth of color you get are unmatched. Plus, they’re super eco-friendly, which is a big win for me.

I second the BioShield Paints recommendation. Their Claypaint is amazing, especially for those of us looking for something that’s both vibrant and sustainable. I used it in my bathroom, and not only does it look great, but it’s also held up really well against the humidity. It’s a bit pricier, but totally worth it for the quality and peace of mind.

I’ve actually tried Eco Paints’ Natural Paint range on my kitchen walls. The sheen is pretty decent, not too glossy but definitely adds a nice finish. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to apply. It went on smoothly over my plaster walls without any primer. The color I chose was a deep green, and it turned out vibrant and rich. Definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re after something with a bit more sheen.

Eco Paints? Yeah, I’ve used them before. Their Natural Paint range is good, but I found the sheen to be a bit inconsistent. Some areas dried with more gloss than others, which was a bit annoying. Maybe it was my application technique, but something to keep in mind. On the plus side, the colors are beautiful and the eco-friendly aspect is a big win.

Might be worth looking into if you’re exploring options beyond Eco Paints.
