Hey everyone! I’ve been diving deep into the world of natural paints recently, especially since I’ve been tackling some ceiling stains in my 1920s bungalow. It’s been a journey, but I’m committed to finding the best non-toxic solutions that don’t compromise on quality or the environment. I’ve tried a few brands, but I’m curious to hear what you all think.
So far, I’ve had a pretty good experience with Earthborn Claypaint. It’s breathable, which is perfect for older homes like mine, and it’s made without any nasty VOCs. I used it in my living room, and it covered up some old water stains beautifully. The application was smooth, and the finish is matte, which I love for ceilings. But I’m wondering, has anyone else tried this brand or have other recommendations? I’m particularly interested in paints that are good for covering stains without needing a primer.
Also, I’m curious about Auro Natural Paints. I’ve heard they’re great for eco-conscious DIYers, but I haven’t tried them yet. Does anyone have experience with Auro, especially on ceilings? How do they handle stains, and what’s the coverage like? I’m all ears for any tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way. Let’s share our experiences and help each other make our homes more beautiful and sustainable!
I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint for a couple of years now, and I must say, it’s been a game-changer for my home. The breathability factor is a huge plus, especially in older homes where moisture can be an issue. I used it to cover some stubborn ceiling stains in my kitchen, and it worked like a charm without the need for a primer. The matte finish is exactly what I was looking for, giving the room a fresh, clean look. Highly recommend it for anyone dealing with similar issues!

@SunnyDays47 I’m also very curious about Auro Natural Paints! I’ve heard great things but haven’t taken the plunge yet. If anyone has experience with it, especially on ceilings, please share your thoughts. It would be super helpful for both of us!

I’ve experimented with a few natural paints over the years, and while Earthborn Claypaint is fantastic, I also had a good experience with Ecos Organic Paint. It’s another great option for covering ceiling stains, and it’s completely VOC-free. The coverage is excellent, and it dries to a beautiful, even finish. Plus, it’s eco-friendly and safe for the whole family. Definitely worth considering!

@NatureLover23 Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely look into Ecos Organic Paint. It’s great to hear about your positive experience with it. Do you remember how many coats you needed for full coverage on the ceiling?

@EcoPainter88 I usually go with two coats for the best results. The first coat does a decent job, but the second coat really brings out the richness of the color and ensures even coverage, especially over stains. It’s a bit more work, but the outcome is definitely worth it!

Just a quick tip for anyone tackling ceiling stains: make sure to clean the area thoroughly before applying any paint. I’ve found that a simple mix of water and vinegar works wonders for removing any residue or grease that might affect the paint’s adhesion. It’s a small step, but it can make a big difference in the final look!

I’ve used Auro Natural Paints in my kitchen and was pretty impressed. The coverage was solid, and it handled some light stains without needing a primer. Application was smooth, though it dries a bit faster than some other paints, so you have to work quickly. The finish is nice and even, which is great for ceilings.

I haven’t tried Auro on ceilings, but I used their wall paint in a bathroom. It’s definitely eco-friendly, but I found the coverage a bit lacking for darker stains. Might need a second coat or a primer for those. The finish is beautiful though, very natural and soft.

Auro’s great for the environment, but I found it a bit pricey compared to other natural paints. I used it in a small room, and while the coverage was decent, I wouldn’t say it’s the best for heavy stains. Maybe okay for minor ones if you’re willing to do a couple of coats.

I tried Auro Natural Paints for a ceiling project last year. It covered light stains well, but for anything more, I’d recommend a primer first. The application was easy, and the paint dried to a lovely matte finish. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but you’re paying for the eco-friendly aspect.
I’m all for eco-friendly options, but I found Auro a bit tricky to work with. It’s not as forgiving if you make a mistake, and it dries quickly, so you have to be precise. Coverage was okay, but I ended up needing a second coat for some areas. The finish is nice, though.

I’ve been using Ecos Organic Paint for a while now, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s not just the VOC-free aspect that’s appealing, but the fact that it’s so easy to work with. I used it in my kitchen to cover some stubborn grease stains on the ceiling, and it worked like a charm. The finish is smooth, and it didn’t require a primer, which saved me a lot of time. For anyone looking for an eco-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on quality, Ecos is definitely worth a try.

I stumbled upon Biofa Natural Paints during my quest for non-toxic paint options, and it’s been a game-changer for me. It’s a bit pricier, but the quality and coverage are unmatched. I used it to cover some old smoke stains on my ceiling, and it did an incredible job. The paint is breathable, which is great for my old house, and it’s made from natural ingredients, so it’s safe for the environment. If you’re willing to invest a bit more for a premium product, Biofa is the way to go.

I totally agree with the vinegar and water tip. It’s a game-changer for prepping surfaces. I’ve used Earthborn Claypaint too, and it’s fantastic for ceilings. The matte finish really helps hide imperfections. Have you considered the color impact on the room’s lighting? I found that lighter shades made my space feel bigger and brighter.

For anyone worried about the cost, remember that investing in quality paint can save you money in the long run by not needing multiple coats or touch-ups. Plus, the environmental benefits are worth it. Has anyone compared the drying times between Earthborn and Auro?
