How do natural paints perform in terms of color retention compared to conventional paints?

I’ve noticed that with natural paints, the quality of the pigment really matters. I used a cheaper brand once, and the color faded within months. Switched to Earthborn, and it’s been a game-changer. The depth of color is amazing, and it’s stayed true even in my sunroom. Worth the extra bucks, I’d say.

Has anyone tried mixing their own natural paints? I’ve been experimenting with clay, chalk, and natural pigments. The colors are unique, but I’m still figuring out the best binders to use for better durability. It’s a fun project, though, and super eco-friendly!

I’ve been using Aglaia Natural Paints too, and I totally agree about the thin coats. It’s a game-changer for durability and color retention. I’ve also noticed that keeping the painted items out of direct sunlight helps a lot. Have you tried any UV protective finishes with your projects? I’m curious if that could extend the life even further.

Interesting point about the sunlight. I’ve been experimenting with Biofa Natural Paints for my outdoor furniture, and even though they claim to be UV resistant, I’ve seen some fading after a couple of summers. Maybe combining them with a UV protective finish could be the way to go. Have you had any experience with Biofa or similar brands for outdoor use?
